Florida couple among Nepal plane crash victims
A University of Miami surgeon and his fiancée were among the victims of a tourist plane crash in Nepal.
Dr. Jagajan "JJ" Karmacharya was a professor of clinical surgery at the university's Miller School of Medicine. He also was chief of vascular surgery at the Miami VA hospital.
The Buddha Air plane carrying tourists to view Mount Everest died Sunday while attempting to land, killing all 19 people on board. The university says Karmacharya's brother and sister-in-law were also on the plane.
Karmacharya was born in Nepal. University officials say he had returned home to visit his ailing mother and introduce her to his fiancée, 35-year-old Natalie Neilan, who also worked at the VA hospital.
Karmacharya was 45.
